Fellowships These fellowships offer a recognized first step into an independent research career for excellent scientists and engineers. They also offer the support and flexibility to be particularly encouraging to women. Contact: Keith Wylde, 020 7451 2547 or email ukresearch.appointments@royalsoc.ac.uk Subjects Covered: All natural sciences (including mathematics and engineering but excluding social sciences) Eligibility: Applicants should be preferably under 35 years of age and of postdoctoral status, but with no more than 4 years' postdoctoral research experience by 1 October 2000. Applicants must be either currently employed in the UK or, if not employed, have at some point been resident in the UK for a continuous period of three years other than for the sole purpose of receiving full-time education. Those already holding substantive posts in a European Union university will not be considered. Length of Tenure: Four years guaranteed. Place of Tenure: Universities and higher educational institutions in the UK. Number Offered: Varies. About 12 in 2000. Frequency: Once a year. Value: Salaries at research staff IIA/II scales.
