Leverhulme Trust/ Senior Research Fellowships These fellowships enable senior academic scientists to be relieved of all teaching and administrative duties to do full-time research for up to one year. Eligibility: Applicants must be of postdoctoral status or equivalent, hold a substantive post in a British university and be at mid-career stage. Employees of Research Councils, or those in Governmental or other research institutions, are not eligible. Length of Tenure: Between one academic term and one year. Place of Tenure: Normally at the applicant's own institution, but may be held at any higher educational or research institution, or industrial research organization, in the UK, approved by the Council of the Royal Society and the Leverhulme Trust. Number Offered: 7 a year. Frequency: Once a year Value: The fellow's employing institution will be reimbursed for the full salary costs of a younger academic (up to age 28 on the academic and academic related staff Lecturer A and B salary scale) employed to take over the fellow's teaching and administrative duties for the period of the fellowship. Fellows may apply for limited research expenses to cover costs of consumables etc; grants cannot be made for equipment. Closing Date: 10 December 1999.
