Feemasonry
I am a freemason. And I feel happy about that.
I am a member of lodge "De Veluwe" in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. A second lodge is present in Apeldoorn, lodge "Liefde en Trouw". Both lodges share the same building, where meetings are held.
What is freemasonry? Where does is stand for? I think it is diffilcult to explain. For me it is a method for beeing a better, nicer person. Follow this link for more explanation about Freemasonry.
Not everyone knows the word freemasonry. Also the meaning of freemasonry is not known to those people.
Freemasonry is to many people a rather secret society. This is because they don't know the method and because Freemasonry is using a initiation for their members. Freemasons don't talk about the initiation. This is because the initiation is a important part of the 'lesson' freemasons get. Knowing the details of initiation before becoming a freemason meens loosing the effect.
In the past freemasons tended to not talk about freemasonry. We are trying to change this. We are working on that now. These pages are part of that.
Lodges in the Netherlands are organizing meetings one or more times a year to tell people of their excisting. Besides these meetings advertisments are made in regional newspapers to tell people about freemasonry. Sometimes a article is placed in newspapers.
How to find a freemasons lodge in your own neighbourhood?
If you are not staying in the Netherlands.... I don't know. If you are staying in the Netherlands you can find a lodge in a telephone bood, under the letter V ("Vrijmetselarij"). There you will find lodge addresses or the secretaries address.
Or you could go to the Internet page from the Grand order of Dutch Freemasons. In these pages you will be able to find addresses of all lodges in the Netherlands and overseas areas.
Membership of a lodge is only for man. If you are dissapointed about that I would like to point you to two other Ordres. "Le droite humain" is for men and women, "Vitae Femina Textura" is only for women. Both ordres are comparible to freemasonry.
