Winchester Group
Millenium Celebration

While there are some who would perhaps doubt the benefits of the modern age, it cannot be denied that we live in privileged times, with the opportunity last year to witness a total eclipse of the sun and the historic change of only a few months ago from the First to the Second Millennium. Some, in their busy lives, may dismiss these historic happenings as irrelevant but they present once in a lifetime opportunities of celebration and making ones mark on history.

It is now nearly three years since the idea was conceived for the fifteen Lodges that comprise the Winchester Group to participate in a ceremony in some measure to satisfy these aims. Initially, it is to he hoped that a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and evening is had by all, and that the signing and subsequent display of the attendance sheets will in its way achieve that little mark for posterity.

During the period of gestation the participants and the reserves, under the guidance of a variety of Preceptors, drawn from Winchester, Andover and Hursley, have worked extremely hard to produce a ceremony of the highest standard with additional work, perhaps not seen very often. This aspect has very much been the practical side of this Millennium celebration, underlining the real benefits of Lodge of Instruction, introducing new lectures and in a very happy way bringing together the three constituent parts of the Group.

We are therefore confident that this Millennium Project will have brought together all of the constituent parts of our Masonry

The cost is £25 and cheques should be made payable to "Winchester Lodge of Instruction". Further details, including where to send payment, may be obtained from your Lodge Secretary.
