The Programme of the Lodge for the next months | Freemasonry
today is a source of inspiration for men who wish to get more out of their
lives. Every freemason's aim is to develop a better self and to strive
more consciously to improve society. Freemasonry is not a religion, has
no credo or dogma, but seeks, through discussion, to improve knowledge
and understanding of other peoples views and perspectives.
Freemasonry, which has members in many countries in the world, has its roots in the past when groups of liberal minded men, (freethinkers), banded together to combat beliefs and injustices brought about by dogmatic institutions. Here in Gouda at the Lodge "De Waare Broedertrouw", we believe that the old age masonic practices of tolerance and love for ones fellow men are as appropriate today as in the past. Regular meetings are held weekly, on Tuesdays, from September
through to June. We have basically two types of meetings: comparities when
discussions on a masonic or other interesting matters are held, and our
formal rituals to initiate or advance a brother in the Order, or to celebrate
a masonic feast. The rituals are based on ancient rites and the extensive
use of allegories and symbols. See our programme
for details of forthcoming meetings.
