Earth The element Earth, as the symbol suggests, represents the flow of the Becoming which stops in the Microcosm of the person who has received it as Water from the Macrocosm.. Halting the flow, the perception of Becoming also stops. Therefore, the way of being which is associated with Earth shifts the attention of the consciousness towards the present time and the presence of the individual Microcosm tends to prevail with regards to the Macrocosm. The uncontrolled prevalence of a too individual Microcosm, implies a serious difficulty in perceiving the exact relationships with the Macrocosm, as an individual Macrocosm tends to "see" only itself. Therefore, one can understand the traditional exhortation to overcome every profane individuality . However, the profane individuality must not be confused with the Man's Centreness , which represents, instead, the right way to confront oneself regarding Existence and Becoming. Earth is not a dynamic Element : it does not flow, and therefore cannot generatey transformations. |
