Sai Baba and South African TV

The Indian Skeptic of 15 September 1997 mentioned a row between the South African Broadcasting Organization and the local Sathya Sai Baba devotees.

On Sunday 13 July 1997, South African TV broadcast the documentary film Guru Busters. In it, a video by a cameraman of Doordarshan (Indian television) implied that self styled Godman Sai Baba used a slight of hand trick to materialize a gold chain and a memento.

Dr Rajna Coopen, vice-president of the Sathya Sai Organization of South Africa, declared they would sue South African Broadcasting because of this film, which was 'defamatory' to their leader.
