Semi-annual
Philalethes Conference, Toronto,
September
28, 29, 30, 2000
The
John Ross Robertson Chapter of the Philalethes Society recently announced that
it will host the semi-annual meeting of the International Society in Toronto at
the Royal York Hotel, September 28, 29, 30 2000. The International Society’s
President is Nelson King, of Toronto, and is the second Canadian to hold that
office. It is expected that 150 delegates from several countries will attend at
this time of year when Toronto experiences warm days and cool evenings, and when
the Autumn colours will be at their peak.
The
meeting is open to all Masons, their spouses, and/or non-Masonic friends, and
will be comprised of a day of international speakers addressing many issues of
Masonic concern. The plans are for hospitality Thursday evening (7:00 p.m.- 9:00
p.m.) Friday is a free day to enjoy
the sights and sounds of Toronto with more hospitality in the evening.
On Saturday, two speakers in the morning and two in the afternoon will
address the Conference. The
speakers will be followed by a panel, chaired by President Nelson King with
discussion from the floor.. All presentations will be audio-taped by AUDIO
ARCHIVES & DUPLICTAORS, INC., and tapes will be available for sale within
minutes of the conclusion of each speaker. The traditional gala evening Feast
will be held in The Ballroom of the Royal York, Hotel to close Philalethes 2000.
We will be honoured to have Wallace E. Mcleod chair this event.
For
the free day we recommend that you treat yourself at the revolving360 Restaurant
in the tallest free standing structure in the world.
Visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. Shop
in the largest underground shopping Centre in the world (8 km's of aisles and
over 1000 outlets). All this is within walking distance of the hotel.
