NOTICE OF MOTION

                                                                CONSOLIDATION OF  COLLEGES

 

Following the directions of the Board of Directors I, R.E.D. Bro. Joe R. Manning, Jr., Chairman of Jurisprudence will move or cause to be moved at the General Assembly at Charlotte, North Carolina that a new Section 103 for the Regulations for the Government of Constituent Colleges be adopted as follows.

 

      No York Rite College may consolidate with another York Rite College without the consent of the Board of Directors of the YORK RITE SOVEREIGN COLLEGE OF NORTH AMERICA.

     

      A College wishing to consolidate with another College may vote for such action at a regular or special assembly.  This action shall require a 2/3  vote of all members present, following advance notice given.

     

      A college wishing to receive another College by consolidation may vote for such action at a regular or special assembly.  This action shall require a majority vote of all members present, following advance notice given.

     

      Upon receiving notification of the above votes, the YORK RITE SOVEREIGN COLLEGE OF NORTH AMERICA may notify both the losing and the receiving College in writing of the consent of the Board of Directors for such consolidation.

     

      Such notification shall contain the following directions:

 

1.      The members of a College consolidating are entitled, upon payment of accrued dues, to become members of the receiving College.

 

2.      The College consolidating shall furnish a list of all its members and their current status.

 

3.      The College consolidating should attempt, as far as possible, to pay all its liabilities prior to consolidation.

 

4.      All properties (books, papers, rituals, jewels, seals, robes and paraphernalia and all other property or funds, or evidence thereof) of the College consolidating shall be immediately turned over to the receiving College.

 

5.      All Past Governors of the College consolidating will become Past Governors of the receiving College and will have all Rights and Privileges of a Past Governor of the receiving College as if the two colleges were always one.

 

6.   The Charter of the College consolidating must be returned   to the office of the YORK RITE SOVEREIGN COLLEGE       OF NORTH AMERICA.

 

            The above consolidation actions shall be under the direction

 

IMPORTANT REMINDER

                                                                      TO COLLEGE GOVERNORS

 

Should your College Secretary become sick, or otherwise disabled, please delegate the responsibility to a pro-tem appointment to ENSURE compliance with Section 109(A) page 25 and Section 6 (I) page 15.  Failure to comply nullifies your OPC nominations.

     

      I direct  your attention to the ‘Legislative Call’ in the Fall, 1999 Crusader to changes that were recommended by the Board of Directors and passed by the Regents at the 1999 General Assembly.

 

Item C - Resolved - Amend Section 109, Paragraph A to read “Every York Rite College shall submit concurrently to the Secretary General of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America and to the Colleges Grand Governor its Annual Returns, Financial Report, Activities Report, and such other reports as may be required from time to time, in and on the forms specified, to be received in the Sovereign College Office no later than July 1 of each year.”

      Also, your request for Gold Honour Awards received by May 1st can be processed before the office is BUSY, BUSY preparing for the General Assembly.

 

      Late orders will be processed in the order they are received, when time permits - which is apt to be AFTER the General Assembly.
