NOTICE OF LEGISLATIVE CALL

                                        CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA—2000

 

The following Notices of Motion have been received and will be on the Agenda at the 2000 Annual Assembly.

 

A.   Resolved:  To amend Section 5 to read “The fiscal year of the Sovereign College of North America shall begin September 1 and end August 31.

 

B.    Resolved:  To amend Section 6, paragraph D to read “All nominations for the Order of the Purple Cross of York must be in the Detroit Office of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America no later than July 1st of each year, and must be accompanied by the appropriate form stating the qualifying reasons for the nomination.

 

C. Changes in the Constitution and to the Regulations have been proposed by the Governor General and they appear in his message on pages 1 and 2 of this issue of the Crusader and therefore are not reprinted here.

 

D. There are proposed changes in the Constitution and to the Regulations regarding the procedure for the consolidation of Colleges, submitted by the Jurisprudence Committee at   the request of the Board of Directors and are published on page 9 under Jurisprudence Committee of this issue of the Crusader and are not reprinted here.

 

E.  In accordance with Article X, Section 1 of the Constitution and By-laws of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America and Section 115 of the Regulations, I, David G. Walker, Grand Governor, Ontario hereby give Notice of Motion that at the next Annual Assembly I shall move or cause to be moved that the “Constitution and By-laws” the “Regulations for the Government of the York Rite  Sovereign College” and the Regulations for the Government of Constituent Colleges” be amended as follows - references to “Annual Assembly” or “Regular Assembly” as noted below be changed to read “General Assembly”.

 

Note the following:

 

Constitution - Article IV, Section 2, Section 4 and 5; Article V, Section 1 and Section 3; Article VII, Section 1; Article IX, Section 1(a) and (b), Article V, Sec. 1.

    

Regulations for the Government of the York Rite Sovereign College - Section 1 C and D, Section 3; Section 4; Section 6D and E.

    

Regulations for the Government of Constituent Colleges - Section 101 B and Section 109 C. 

    

Appendix A - Section 1 D and E.

 

F.  In accordance with Article X, Section 1 of the Constitution of the York Rite Sovereign College of North America and Section 115 of the Regulations I, Donald A. King, K.G.C.Y. will move or cause to be moved at the next General Assembly at Charlotte, North Carolina, that Section 115, Amendments (pg. 27) be amended as follows:  delete the   words “At least 90 days prior to the first day of the General Assembly” and replace with “on or before the first day of February in the year preceding the next General Assembly”.

 

G. I, Donald A. King, K.G.C.Y.  will move or cause to be moved at the General Assembly at Charlotte, North Carolina that:  Section 6, A, Regulations (pg. 13) be amended as follows: 

    

3rd line from the bottom of sub-section A, following the words ‘Order of the Purple Cross’ - add “Should a College allow their membership to fall below the constitutional requirement of 25 (section 101(B) pg. 17) they disqualify    themselves to submit a nomination for the Order of the Purple Cross”.  Delete the last sentence which now reads   “In Colleges with 75 or more members there may be no more than two (2) approved nominations for the Order of  the Purple Cross” and replace with “75 to 149 members two approved nominations for the Order of the Purple Cross and in Colleges with 150 or more members three approved Order of the Purple Cross nominations.”
