JUNE 2000
GRAND
COMMANDER'S MESSAGE
May has been a very busy month for us. It started April 29th with the reception for Most Excellent Dale Tynan, Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of the State of New York, Royal Arch Masons, on Long Island. We then spent a couple of days attending the Annual Convocation of the Grand Lodge of New York. After that there were visits to the Annual Conclaves of Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, with Vermont yet to come in June. Everywhere that we have visited we have been most graciously received. Each visit leaves us with special memories that we will cherish forever.
Those of you who were not able to attend the Easter Sunrise Service in Alexandria this year missed a wonderful experience. We had sixty-five Sir Knights and Ladies in attendance at the banquet. This was the largest number in many a year. There were thirty-seven Sir Knights at the service on Easter Morning. All who attended the Saturday afternoon
lunch and the tour of the Kennedy Center had a great time. Those who attended the Grand Encampment luncheon also had a great time sharing the joy of the season with fellow Sir Knights and Ladies. As always, the message from S.K. James Morris Ward, Most Eminent Grand Master of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the USA was warm and inspiring. S.K. William Jackson Jones, Right Eminent Deputy Grand Master and his Lady Lois joined us at our banquet Saturday evening. He brought the greetings of the officers of the Grand Encampment. The Sir Knights and Ladies enjoyed the opportunity to get to know our next Grand Master and his Lady Lois.
I would like to remind you of the Triennial Conclave of the Grand Encampment to be held in Nashville, TN, August 11-16. Details are in the April issue of the Knight Templar Magazine. Please join us if you can!
You will find information on our Annual Conclave in this month's supplement. Please accept this as a personal invitation to come to Binghamton, September 15-17, 2000. We look forward to hosting the 187th Annual Conclave!
Remember, live the principles of our Order, work hard, have fun, and "Together, let's build the bridge to the next millennium!"
Courteously,
David D. Goodwin, K.C.T.
Grand Commander
32nd KNIGHTS TEMPLAR EYE FOUNDATION VOLUNTARY CAMPAIGN
Well, Sir Knights, the word is.."THANK YOU". Thank you for caring, but most especially, thank you for participating. The Commanderies of New York reached a new plateau in this year's Voluntary Campaign. Each and every Commandery in New York State (yes, that's right...100% of the Commanderies) PARTICIPATED in this fine endeavor. One hundred percent participation in the Voluntary Campaign has been a goal of each of our Grand Commanders, and this year, that goal has been achieved. So a 'big thanks' goes out to each Zone Commander, each Grand Line Officer, and especially to each Sir Knight, for their efforts in making this year's Voluntary Campaign be the most successful one in many, many years.
S.K.Douglas Holbrook, KYCH, Chairman
