MICHIGAN JUNE
COMMANDERY PARADE AT MOSLEM SHRINE CIRCUS
The
Knights Templar paraded at the Masonic Night at the Detroit Moslem Temple
Shrine Circus on March 27, 2000, at the State Fair Coliseum.
Participating were Harold E. Teufel; Jerry K. Bush; Anton
Karpowich, Jr.; Robert F. LeGrand; Don J. Williams, PC; Russell Spice, PC;
Emmett W. Mills, EC; all from Detroit Commandery No. 1; Edwin J. Forbush, PC,
EC of Northville Commandery No. 39; James E. Hawn, GSW; Roy A. Ickes, GW; James
C. Costello, DGC; Richard Webb, Jr., PGC; and John H. Mengel, PC, Detroit
Commandery No. 1, acting as Captain General.
and taking the picture was Corbin P. Elliot, PC, Detroit Commandery No.
1.
In the
reviewing stand was the Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar
of Michigan, Sir Knight Robert C. Ickes, along with other Masonic dignitaries.
ALL-ORDER DAY EXEMPLAR
On
Saturday, April 15, Sir Knights from Detroit Commandery No. 1 and other Sir
Knights from across the state met in the Detroit Masonic Temple for the last of
the Templary 2000 Crusade All-Order Days.
Sir
Knight Alan Peterman, Potentate of Moslem Shrine in Detroit, was the exemplar
for the class of 43 new Sir Knights.
TEMPLARY 2000
CRUSADE - DETROIT
Some 43
new candidates received the Orders of Red Cross and Malta and were created
Knights of the valiant and magnanimous Order of the Temple at the Detroit
Masonic Temple on April 15, 2000. This
completed the three Templary 2000 Crusade All-Order Days and brought the total
knighted to over 70.
The
Illustrious Order of the Red Cross was conferred by Northville Commandery No.
39. Detroit Commandery No. 1 conferred
the Order of Malta and the Order of the Temple.

PARADES - SUMMER 2000
Sir
Knights: It is time to place the dates for the
remainder of the Summer 2000 parades on your calendar. The uniform for parades is full dress with
sword or, if approved at the Grand Conclave, the new Summer Uniform. Please wear a short sleeve white shirt and,
if necessary, white suspenders. We will
form two divisions as the new summer uniform is being phased into general use.
Web Coordinator’s note: The
new summer uniform legislation was passed at the Annual Conclave on Friday,
June 2, 2000, in Port Huron.
Northville,
July 4: Northville Commandery No. 39 will be the
host. There is a farm breakfast (cost
$4) prior to the parade starting at 7:00 A.M. at the Northville Masonic Center,
106 E. Main St. We will assemble in the
Northville Downs parking lot at 9:30 A.M. and the parade steps off at 10:00
A.M. (Summer Uniform preferred.)
Traverse
City, July 8: Traverse City Commandery No. 41 invites all
Sir Knights and Ladies to enjoy the Cherry Royale Parade. Assemble at the Traverse City Masonic Temple
at 13360 West Bay Shore Road. Busses
will depart at 9:30 A.M. at a cost of $2 per rider. Lunch will follow at the Temple at $5 per person. (Summer Uniform preferred.)
Alma, August 5: Park on the front lawn parking area of the Masonic Home by 10:00 A.M. Street traffic will be closed by the Alma Police Department by 10:30 A.M. Take the free Home bus transportation to the assembly area (1-1/2 miles distant) prior to 10:30 A.M. We step off at 11:00 A.M. for a 1.7 mile march. If your are unable to complete the distance, remain near the rear of the Masonic Home and join in with the marching complement when it passes that part of the Home. Then, continue with us past the reviewing stand at the front of the Home to the dispersal area again at the rear of the Home. Lunches are available for sale at several locations at this annual Home Fair. (Summer Uniform preferred.)
