History of The Eglise Gnostique Catholique Apostolique, Catholicate de la Croix de Rose.
In the late fall, and early winter of 1998, Tau Mikael, then beginning the first year of his Episcopal Reign, decided to create a church that would wed the lofty ideals of the Rose Croix with the extremely beautiful rites of The Antiochene Church. This church, then named the "Rosicrucian Catholikon", would offer empowerment through Holy Orders for spiritual seekers, as well as traditional teachings of the Rose Croix gathered from a variety of sources.
The work of developing the Catholikon was proceeding very slowly, as it had to at times take a back seat to the secular demands of earning a living.
However, the House of The Holy Ghost was able to establish and maintain contact with fellow priests and bishops. Much support was offered to the House to continue the work in the form of vital information which could not be traveled for, prayer and fond words from clerics together in Spirit with us.
A truly momentous event occurred by E-mail, when Sophia Katherine, the Chancellor to Tau Mikael, was contacted by Tau Johannes XIII, Primate of Columbia, of the Eglise Gnostique Catholique Apostolique. Tau Johannes asked if we were... "affliated with the TRUE Rosicrucians of France". He then asked if we knew of a "Roger Saint Victor Herard" a French Gnostic Bishop who had had a jurisdiction in Chicago, Illinois. We did know of him and in fact Tau Johannes himself then stated that he was an autocephalous Primate of the same church, the EGCA, for Columbia, South America.
After many long distance conversations between Tau Johannes and Tau Mikael, Tau Johannes offered to consecrate Tau Mikael to the Sacred Episcopate in the Eglise Gnostique Catholique Apostolique, Primacy of Columbia, with the express intention of Tau Mikael becoming the Chief Archbishop of another autonomous/autocephalous jurisdiction within the EGCA.
It then became apparent to Tau Mikael that most EGCA bishops in America function autonomously; there were only two that he could bring to mind, who functioned in concert.
The House of The Holy Ghost traveled to Huntington Beach, California. Then on October 30, 1999, exactly one year after his initial consecration in Old Town, Florida, Tau Mikael III Basilides was consecrated to the Sacred Episcopacy and elevated to the office of Archbishop. Tau Johannes XIII was the principal consecrator, while Tau St. George and another* Archbishop assisted.
Tau Johannes XII was very generous to The House of the Holy Ghost and his kindness will always be fondly remembered.
Primate of Colombia, Tau Johannes XIII, at the consecration of Tau Mikael, bestowed upon him the right to use the name Eglise Gnostique Catholique Apostolique for the name his church if he wished.
Tau Mikael, after speaking with the very learned Tau Ignatius IV of Alexandria, determined that a changing of the name of the Rosicrucion Catholikon was in order. Therefore on November 1, 1999 it was renamed Eglise Gnostique Catholique Apostolique, Catholicate de la Croix de Rose.
Apostolic Succession
The EGCA/CCR believes in Traditional Apostolic Succession, that is that Holy Orders are a Sacrament that can ONLY be passed on by Laying on of Hands. We believe that the practice of so-called "Spiritual or Astral" ordination or consecration is invalid and that it mocks Sacred Tradition.
The EGCA/CCR possesses all eighteen extant lines of Apostolic Succession through Tau Mikael's consecration by Tau Johannes XIII. Our Lines of Succession are available only to clerics/prelates recognized by The House of The Holy Ghost. We also believe that Bishops, Priests and Deacons can be deposed, that is fully removed from the rolls of clergy for misconduct; their credentials can be revoked as well as their Holy Orders, this especially to mockers and betrayers of Sacred Tradition.
Rosicrucian Inspiration
The Fama, The Confessio, and The Hermetic Nuptuals (The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz) as well as various alchemical texts serve as inspirations for the EGCA/CCR.
Initiatic Chivalric Orders
The EGCA/CCR is working at developing an initiatic chivalric order based on The Hermetic Nuptuals, we are seeking persons to aid us in developing this order. The name of this order (which is registered), is The Rosicrucian and Alchemical Order of The Golden Stone. We also hold several initiatic orders in high esteem. The Rosicrucian and Military Order of The Sacred Grail, The Ancient Martinist Order, The Order of The Lilly and The Eagle, The Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Misraim, and American Co-Masonry, just to name a few.
Acceptable Rites
Acceptable Sacramental Rites of The EGCA/CCR are all Orthodox Rites, Eastern or Western, as well as Ecclesia Gnostica Rites, and Non Chalcedonian Rites; Roman Catholic Rites (Novus Ordo) and Episcopalian Rites are not considered valid theurgical liturgies, they are considered bereft of spiritual viridity for Esoteric Christians.
The Holy Scriptures
Our Holy Scriptures are any that have been in use at any time by People of The Book, (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), Eastern or Western.
Non "Book" scriptures, while valuable are not considered canonical. (The Bhagavad Gita is a GREAT BOOK, that does not make it canonical for Esoteric Christians).
Sacramental Esoteric Christians
The EGCA/CCR is an ecclesia of sacramental esoteric Christians.
