   MEET S. K. Irvin L. Bitting, REGC

        Right Eminent Grand CommanderS. K. Irvin L. Bitting, Right Eminent Grand Commander was born on February 25, 1935 in Pryor Oklahoma to Bill and Delpha (Rogers) Bitting, and is very proud of the Cherokee heritage he received from his parents. He has three younger sisters, Bertha Eubanks, Zona Pippen,  and Billie Bitting.  With his father being in construction building atomic plants they moved around frequently, and he attended many different High Schools, He graduated from Ballard County Memorial High School in Kevil, Kentucky. While living in Jeffersonville, Indiana, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. Upon discharged, he moved to the Calumet Region of Northwest Indiana and went to work for Inland Steel Co. where he was a Mechanical Maintenance Foreman and Maintenance Inspector. After 33 years of employment with Inland he retired in 1991, Irvin has three children from his first marriage. Bill, Sherryl and Monica. He met his wife Doris in 1981. and they were married on March 6, 1982. With the marriage he gained two more sons. Jim and Scott Beam. From this combined family, they have six beautiful grandchildren, three boys and three girls.

         He was appointed to the west Grand Warder in 1992 and re-appointed in 1993 and 1994. He              was-elected Grand- Junior Warden in 1995. He is a Past Master of Howard 0. Hunert Lodge#751. Past High-Priest-of Rensselaer-Chapter#15O. Past Illustrious Master of Adoniram Council #109. Past Commander Lafayette Commandery #3 Past Prior of J. Herbert Nichols Priory #76. Knight York Cross of Honor and Past Governor Northwest Indiana York Rite College #73 Holder of the Order of the Purple Cross A member of the David R. Ford Council #338 the Allied Masonic Degrees Gennesaret Tabernacle No. XVII of Holy Royal Arch Templar Priests. St. Basil Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine No. XVII Valley of Indianapolis AASR, Lowell Chapter #360 of the Order of Eastern Star and Orak Shrine.

                               

                                       MEMBERSHIP

             Sir Knights the Crusade 2000 has been a success.

             Now we need to keep the momentum going.

             As Grand Commander, I am going to institute an incentive program fix this year. 

             The program will begin on May 1st 2000 and end on April 15th.

             The Sir Knight with the MOST TOP LINE SIGNATURES for this

              period of May 1" 2000 to April 15"' 2001,

             (these candidates must be knighted by April 27 2001), will receive:

             Friday night lodging, April 27, 2001. at the Marriott, and he and his lady

             will be guests of the Grand Commandery at the banquet held that evening.    

                          

1sr RUNNNER UP will receive One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)

 

2nd PLACE will receive Seventy-five Dollars ($7500)

 

3rd  PLACE will receive Fifty Dollars ($50.00)


            It is my hope that everyone will participate in this program.

            We all know good Masons that do not belong to the York Rite.

            Perhaps you have asked them before and they said no, or not now.

           Ask again and be persistent.

           This could be the time that they will say yes.
