"Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The carriage held but just ourselves
And immortality."
-Emily Dickinson
My Brethren:
It is with a heavy heart that I report to you of the death of our First Vice President Bro. Duane Anderson, FPS. Bro. Anderson passed to Grand Lodge Above on March 8, 2000. A bright beacon in our Gentle Craft has been extinguished. A tribute to our Bro. Anderson can be found in this issue.
I regret that I must report that Bro. "Mac" Kendall Hall McAllister passed to the Grand Lodge Above on March 10, 2000. As you know "Mac" was our resident cartoonist. A Brother who found much humor in Masonry and could with a stroke of a pen conveyed that humor to others.
We will cherish their memories in our hearts.
Toronto2000 You will be hearing a lot about Toronto2000 over the next few months. The John R. Robertson Chapter of The Philalethes Society have been very busy preparing for our Semiannual Meeting. There will be speakers from the four corners of the world. We will gather at the Royal York Hotel, in the heart of the city. Shopping, museums, theaters, and sport complexes are just a short walk away. The Chapter has made arrangements with Air Canada for special rates. So come early and stay late. [see announcement of meeting in this issue]
The Phylaxis Society held their Annual Meeting in Kansas City on March 11, 2000. Bro. Joseph A. Walkes Jr. FPS is to be congratulated not only for the success of The Phylaxis Society and their meeting, but also for their recognition of people within the community and the business world. Well-done Brethren

June 1992: "Through Masonic Windows" reported
"From J.A. Ferguson, PGM (Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba) Conference Secretary, comes this document: "The Conference of Grand and District Grand Lodges of Canada held in Winnipeg on March 21, 1992, unanimously recommends the acceptance of Prince Hall Grand Lodges, as approved by the Conference of Prince Hall Grand Lodges, as being regular Masonic Grand Lodges. " And it adds: "This resolution was passed unanimously by all delegates present. " The President of The Philalethes Society, Wallace McLeod, FPS, presented a historical account of Prince Hall Masonry to the delegates. The Masonic tenet of Brotherhood is expanding!"
Eight years later 8 of the 9 Grand Lodges of Canada who attended this meeting have issued Recognition to Prince Hall Grand Lodges. To the best of my knowledge only The Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario and the new formed Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador [which was not formed in 1992] have not yet Recognized any Prince Hall Grand Lodge. The question must be asked. Why? Why after 8 years and after voting to accept Prince Hall Lodges has Recognition not been granted?
