The Clifford Paterson Lecture

In 1975, the General Electric Company Limited covenanted £2500 a year over seven years (subsequently renewed) to endow the Clifford Paterson Lecture on electrical science and technology, inclusive of the science and technology of electronic materials, components and systems. The lecture is given annually. A gift of £500 is associated with the lecture.

1998 Colin Webb – Making light work: applications of high power lasers.
1997 Gareth Parry – From electrons and photons to optoelectronics and photonics.
1996 Martin Wood – Superconductivity: will the dream come true?
1995 Francis Kelly – Modelling communication networks: present and future.
1994 Michael Brady – Seeing machines and robots engineering problem?
1992 Marcel Garnier – Magnetohydrodynamics in material processing.
1991 David Payne – Circuits, sensors and strands of light.
1990 Maurice Wilkes – Progress and research in the computer industry.
