Archives and
manuscripts Archives The archives of the Royal Society date from its foundation on 28 November 1660, and provide an almost complete record of its activities ever since. They are particularly strong for the 17th and 18th centuries, when nearly every western scientist of note was either a Fellow of the Society or corresponded with it, and therefore provide a unique source on the development of modern science.
