Inner liberty implies our capacity to reveal ourselves in Forms, freely and deliberately chosen by us, without constrictions and obligations that come from other uncontrollable sources. At first sight, it would seem that such sources are all placed outside us, but it is not so. It is true that we are often deeply conditioned by external events, but the most deceptive dangers come from ourselves. Traditionally it is said that is our imperfect Form that have our prison key, but that it is our profane personality, symbolized by Saturn, the preminently old man, that determines our imperfect Form. The Imagination, or the action in depth (imum ago) can help us conceive in our consciousness the ways of being that can lead us beyond the limitations of our prison. One must, however, accurately consider the profound difference that distinguishes the Imagination from fantasy. |
