The Ethics of information The subject
"Ethics", in the exchange of information, has
not yet been exhaustively and conveniently dealt with,
even though a lot has been said about the Ethical behaviour
of those who propagate information. The few existing rules
appear to be totally inadequate to the enormous quantity
of information dealt with by systems like Internet. In
particular, Ethics based on the veracity of a single
information cannot be reliable if it is regarded as
applicable only to the closed context of the single
messages. The limits of the human
mind will not be able, in the future, to master the great body
of information but by means of correlations and intuitive
syntheses. Such faculties fall within the sphere of individuality and, therefore, of conscience. The Ethics of information,
therefore, will have to take into consideration that the relation
of importance of the roles between those who propagate
information and those who must interpret them, is
destined to change in favour of the latter. Therefore, the dogmatic message will necessarily have to give way to the propositional message. |
