THE GRAND MASTERS OF

GRAND ORIENT OF ITALY

AND

THE REGULAR GRAND LODGE "YUGOSLAVIA"

met in Rimini on April 14th and 15th 1999 in order to examine the tragic evemts affecting population of Kosovo, Serbia and Yugoslavia, and mutually agreed the following statements.

"Freemasonry, on the basis of its cosmopolitan view ;

refuse and condemn

ethnic, racial and religious fanatism ;

Defend and support

fraternity among men and people;

strive

toward the end of the war and favour international negotiations, aiming to conciliate civil freedom, autonomy and territorial integrity of States;
towards immediate solutionnn that has to be reached within the UN, custodian of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, generated in European Lodges and inspired by Masonic ideals and practice ;

strive

towards intensive education to overcome particular interests and nationalisms and findings solutions in the spirit of New Europe for problems that generated tragedies such as in Kosovo ; to reaffirm the Masonic universal principle of tolerance, which will show men and people how to live together and to establish peaceful relationships ;

strive

towards work in favor of all people that suffer, showing moral and material solidarity with no distinction of ethnic or religious group".
