SECTION FOUR:
WITHOUT BORDERS OR TIME LIMITS

That arms may fall and that men may talk. 1

History was not written by men who predicted failure, who renounced their dreams, who abandoned their principles, who permitted fear to numb the intelligence. 1

Within this section strategies of change will be developed so that development may be implemented in an atmosphere of peace, placing emphasis on the achievements and benefits that pacification will bring.

Simultaneously, this part of the exhibit shall transmit the philosophy behind the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress. This could be accomplished by presenting past and current achievements, including the Foundation's Centres for Organized Participation, Human Progress and Peace and Reconciliation.

Exhibit Components

  1. Five informative units consisting of a photographic mural, a computer terminal with C.D. and a Secret Sound System.
Each of the five units should cover the achievements of pacification: demilitarization, health, education, sustainable development, etc.

  2. Information panels containing statistics, photographs, documents and objects that adequately illustrate the theme of the hall.

  3. A small fishing boat with its oars and crew ready for departure, symbolizing the moment of lifting anchor and heading off towards a better future.

  4. In two large display windows will be exhibited the recognition awards received by Dr. Oscar Arias Sánchez, creator of the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress, during his career: the Nobel Prize for Peace, honorary doctorates, newspaper articles, posters, photographs, etc. These will represent the support that his actions have received.

1. Dr. Oscar Arias Sánchez, December 11, 1987.
